A Delicate Balance
Jacqueline Bradley
9 - 19 October 2008
At the Vanishing Point Gallery
565 King St, Newtown
This exhibition was a small solo show in the window space of At the Vanishing Point Gallery, in Newtown, Sydney. I wrote a short statement to go along with this exhibition, and here it is:
When an idea is constantly running around a mind, what does that look like? How can the squirming of a nervous stomach be seen? Jacqueline Bradley’s exhibition, A Delicate Balance, explores the potential for inanimate objects to describe these subjective experiences. These intimate sculptural works find a home between familiar and whimsy using a visual language of household objects, sewn and constructed elements to portray internal workings, secret happenings and frozen thoughts.
